Balblair 1997 (2013), 2nd Release, 46 %

Review #38
This 1997 vintage is from 1st fill bourbon barrels and has aged for minimum 16 years. The smell is sweet and filled with tropical fruits. Very easy on the nose and a whisky you can sit and enjoy just by smelling to it, for quite some time.

The taste has a bit more power. Spices and wood influence appears. Perhaps a bit salty? The finish stays for some time, it is nice rounded and some of the classic bourbon notes like vanilla come to mind.

It is complex and you really feel that this whisky wants something. In spite of the different styles the balance is actually very good. I rate this whisky 89/100 (22/22/22/23).
