Tomintoul 43 yo (1967/2010), A.D. Rattray, 44,3 %

Review #49
I´m starting new year’s early with an old dram. It is the 43 year old from the independent distiller A.D. Rattray. Cask number 2557 (which was a bourbon) was distilled 07.04.1967 and bottled 22.10.2010. 123 bottles were made. The smell has notes of honey and lemon cake with a touch of citrus.

The taste is just filled with impressions and very good at the 44,3 %. Oak, honey, fresh fruits and the finish is just so smooth. I get so much mouth water drinking this. The oak carries on through and some caramel comes to mind. This is absolutely delicious.

The balance is great and the complexity is just phenomenal! You could probably name lots of other smells and tasting notes! I could wish for a bit more on the nose, but the rest is just great. I will rate this whisky 90/100 (21/22/23/24).

May you all have a great 2015! Slainte.
