Glenlivet 15 yo French Oak Reserve, 40 %

This 15 years old is finished in Limousin French Oak casks. It is the same kind that many Cognacs are matured in. The smell is fresh, nutty and fruity. Some dried fruit and fresh hay as well.

The taste is very spicy at first. Some fruits appear. Both fresh fruits like apples and dried fruits like raisins. The finish is actually very chewy, and like the 12 year old this whisky manages to have a warm and long finish.

The balance is not challenging and watered down to 40 % ABV the complexity suffers very much. It is still a fine dram though. I will give this 85/100 (21/21/22/21).
