Strathclyde 36 yo (1977), SMWS G10.8, 58 %

This Single Grain whisky is called “Lashing of loveliness” and comes from a Refill Barrel. There were made 149 bottles. The smell is overwhelmingly sweet. Caramel-sugar-sweetness, almost like rum. A slight mix of dark chocolate and coffee.

Lots of sugar and power from the alcohol in the taste. Some light toasted oak and some nuts as well. Almost like Werthers’s Original in the finish, but else the same as the taste.

Fine dram, but if I had blind tasted this, I would have guessed it to be a rum. But lovely with something a bit different. I will rate this 85/100 (22/21/22/20).
