Review #211 |
A blend
from Ballantines that has won several awards through the years. Let’s see if we
can figure out why. The smell is sweet, fresh, and very easy on the nose. I
like the smell but it seems like the proportion of the grain whiskies is very
high and almost make the smell to clean and unchallenging.
Much more
going on in the taste. Vanilla and toasted oak wood at first and then some
fresh fruits like crisp apples. The finish is long but not that complex. The
wood stays for a while with a mix of herbs and spices.
Definitely
a blend that is worth visiting, and to the price I will recommend to give it a
go. It is not in the same class as the good malts, but a robust blend! Do I
understand all the prices awarded? Somewhat… I will give this 84/100 (21/22/21/20).
