Review #210 |
This blended
scotch features both Macallan and Highland Park. That sounds great, but let us
see if the whisky can live up to those names. Some sweetness at first on the
nose like caramel. Some coffee mixed with some rough notes like dirt and grass
in the background. A malty touch as well.
The grain
whiskies are more dominant in the taste. Very fresh at first and then it seems
like the malts are taking over in the finish with the more rough notes. Like
the smell, I get some dirt and malt notes, but I also get some bitter notes,
which is a bit misplaced.
For a blend
at only 40 % the finish is quite long and the malty touch makes it the best
thing about this whisky. It is hard to describe exactly what it is, but I miss
some complexity. I will give this 81/100 (20/20/21/20).
