Review #238 |
This whisky is called “Toast Hawaii” and comes
from a refill ex-hogshead. Only 183 bottles were made. Light dried fruity
sweetness with just a hint of peat on the nose. Little by little, some oak and
marzipan makes an appearance.
Definitely some more peat in the taste. There is
still some fruit with the peat, but the presence of the alcohol is massive. The
finish is nice and mellow though. Ripe plums all the way!
Water makes this whisky much more approachable
all over. It really makes the oak influence stand out. I think that SMWS is
great at choosing Caol Ila casks. I will rate this 90/100 (23/22/23/22).
