Glen Grant 30 yo (1985/2015), DL - XOP, 59,1 %

Review #282
Douglas Laing runs a series called 'Xtra Old Particular' with rare old whiskies. This is from cask DL11009 which were a refill hogshead and only 36 bottles were made. Burned sugar with with loads of chared wood in the smell. If you been to a distillery and smelled an empty bourbon barrel, this is it!

Extremely powerful in the taste at first. Your face almost cramps. Lovely vanilla with citrus hiding in the background. It is very spicy in the finish, but still with the sweet vanilla hanging around. Stays for quite a while in the mouth.

This offers a bit more than other old Glen Grants I have come across. It is very powerful so I will definitely recommend that you experiment with some water, and don´t be scared to drown it! I will give this 86/100 (21/21/22/22).
