Buffalo Trace, Sazerac 6 yo Thomas H. Handy, 63,45 %

Review #301
This 6 year old rye is distilled Spring 2004 and bottled Fall 2010. A special bottle and the smell doesn’t let you down. Lots of vanilla and some notes like cinnamon tea. Soft oak (does that exists?) and just a hint of spices.

Very powerful at first, but when the burst of fire is over some spices arrives on the palate with some hint of dried fruits. The finish is almost so warm at first that you almost don’t notice the different flavors. Toffee, melted caramel and different types of spices. Some cinnamon in the end.

Quite a lot going on in this whiskey. You need water in this because before you know it, you got no nose hair and a burning sensation in the mouth. Takes the focus away from the flavors, and we don’t need that! I will give this 85/100 (21/21/22/21).
