Peatside 2009, Chapter 7, 46 %

Review #364
This is a 6 year old blended malt and it is finished in a barrique Tawny Port cask. Only 429 bottles were made. Peat and smoked meat in the smell at first. Some red berries at well, but nothing dominant. It is all very mild on the nose.

More flavourful in the taste. Peat, but mostly smoke, some black pepper and blueberries. Some fruity notes comes forward in the finish. Berries in particular. The alcohol and wood is in great balance, even though it is only 6 years old.

The 46 % works very well. It packs lots of flavours and the alcohol doesn’t take over. The Port and heavy peat gives it a special characteristic, but it actually works very well. The different flavours compliments each other fine. I will give this 85/100 (20/22/22/21).
