GlenDronach 11 yo (2003/2014), Single Cask PX, 46 %

Review #398
From cask number 906, which was a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon, comes this single cask whisky. Only 793 bottles were made, for the Danish market. The smell is light and fruity. Sweet marzipan, roasted coffee and dried fruits. Nothing too heavy though.

It is not as sweet and smooth as the Oloroso matured whiskies. The taste is very fresh and fruity with hints of chocolate and coffee. Long finish where the fruits and the coffee and chocolate notes just lies like a layer in the mouth.

What a shame this isn’t cask strength. The taste lacks a little, but to be fair, this is still a very good dram. Not all distilleries can handle PX casks, but GlenDronach definitely can! I will give this 86/100 (22/21/22/21).
