Bowmore 9 yo, Sherry Cask Matured, 40 %

A limited release from Bowmore, made for the travel retail market. Nice sherry influence in the smell, and almost no alcohol at all. It is letting the flavours through beautifully. Plums, figs and sweet raisins. Smells like there is some PX Sherry casks involved in this! It’s almost like the dried fruits is covering for the peat?

Now here is a funny combination in the taste! The dried fruits again but now accompanied with earth, smoke and ashes. The finish dies out very fast, but is sweet as long as it lasts. It is very salty as well all the way through the taste and finish.

This normally doesn’t come from me, but the 40 % actually suits this in the smell and the taste. The finish however could use some more strength… And it is not like I would complain if it were at a higher ABV! Only 9 years old, only 40 % and it almost doesn’t cost anything, but I like it… How great is that! I will give this 85/100 (22/22/20/21).
