Dumbarton 25 yo (1986/2011), Scott’s Selection, 51,5 %

Review #426
Single Grain from the closed Dumbarton Distillery. Sweet on the nose, but don’t get fooled, don’t get your nose too close! The smell is full of burned sugar, coconut, honey and alcohol tickling your nose.

Very sweet in the taste with great oak influence. Loads of vanilla, honey and sugar so sweet I feel like I am in a candy store. The finish is warm and much like Christmas cake. The sweetness lingers oak with a burned caramel touch and leaves you like ‘aahhh’.

This will definitely warm you on a cold winter day! Grain whisky can really be good if the distilleries are using quality casks. In my opinion the best grain whiskies is above 20 year old. I will give this 87/100 (22/22/22/21).
