Port Ellen 24 yo (1982/2007), OMC DL3915, 50%

Review #456
This is from the series ”Old Malt Cask” from Douglas Laing and comes from a refill butt with the cask number DL 3915. Only 476 bottles were made. Sweet, citrusy peat in the smell. Some light tropical fruits as well, alongside some oak, vanilla and melted honey.

Now we are talking! Much more peat in the taste, still sweet and citrusy, but just much more flavourful. Hay, salty ocean and toasted oak. The finish gets a bit sweeter with some burned caramel and a touch of wood.

The Old Malt Cask series is almost always a guarantee for high quality, and this is no exception! It says refill butt, but I would have loved some more fruitiness from the cask… Definitely not worth the price tag, but still a great dram. I will give this 87/100 (21/23/22/21).
