Suntory Special Reserve, 40%

Review #481
This is a blended malt containing whisky from Yamazaki and Hakushu Distillery. Give it a couple of minutes in the glass and the fruity and malty notes comes forward in the smell. It is not very sweet, a bit dry, with a touch of oak.

A little alcohol burn in the taste despite the 40 %. Again the fruity notes is in focus. Some dried fruits like prunes and raisins. Some vanilla comes forward in the finish with the fruits that lingers out. A little bitterness from the wood as well.

A nice dram that actually works at 40 %. The fruitiness makes up for the missing alcohol kick. I would absolutely love to try this at cask strength or even just at 46 %. I will give this 83/100 (21/20/21/21).
