Talisker Skye, 45,8%

Review #497
This expression was released in 2015 and is named after the island where Talisker is located. Salty Island peat with a little citrusy touch in the smell. Some creamy caramel sweetness as well.

Still salty peat in the taste, but the peat is more present here. The sweetness comes forward in the finish and mixes with the salt. Not a bad combination actually! I am inclined to say “salted caramel”…

It is not very complex and it is not a whisky you sit down and pick apart. With that said, the flavours that is present works well together. And lastly, it is so important that they bottled this at 45,8% instead of 40% that most other distilleries does, even though it is the bottom of their range. It really adds to the whisky! I will give this 83/100 (21/21/21/20).
