Kilchoman Loch Gorm (2015), 46%

Review #507
This is the 2015 edition of Loch Gorm. Matured in Oloroso butts as the previous editions, but this has also some whisky from Sherry hogsheads. Dried fruits dominates the smell while some peat is lurking in the background. Plums in particular, but other things happens as well, especially as the dram opens up. The peat comes forward a bit and some citrusy notes appear.

Much like the smell, the dried fruits are in focus in the taste, and again it is plums in particular. The peat is here from the start and mixes beautifully with the Sherry cask influence. Even though it sounds a little strange, I still find this fresh. The peat lingers out in the finish (but doesn’t disappear), and leaves you with some sweet dried fruits.

If you like peat and you like Sherry cask influence, and most important, you like to get those two things mixed, this is for you! This is my first Loch Gorm, but now I have to try the other ones as well! I will rate this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
