Port Dundas 27 yo (1988/2016) DL Old Particular, 57,3%

Review #512
From Douglas Laing comes this refill hogshead with the cask number DL 11129. Only 249 bottles were made. Very sweet in the smell. Elegant oak and peaches. Honey and wood spices.

Again the sweetness is dominant in the taste, and that is meant in the most positive way! The oak tickles your tongue and carries on the finish that goes on forever. The sweetness, sugary burned caramel, gets a bit subdued but funnily enough, it is the flavours that stays the longest. The oak and the wood spices comes a bit more forward.

Another great old grain whisky. When the independent bottlers keep grain casks for so long, it must be because it is superb casks, and it almost always is! I can only encourage people who haven’t had old grain whisky to get it tried! I will rate this 89/100 (22/22/23/22).
