Strathclyde 25 yo (1990/2016), DL Old Particular, 51,5%

Review #521
From Douglas Laing comes this single grain whisky from a refill barrel with the cask number DL11335. Only 116 bottles were made. Sugary sweetness and elegant oak in the smell. Buttery with wood spices and vanilla. A little burned caramel in the end.

A little alcohol burn alongside some sugary and vanilla sweetness in the taste. The wood spices comes forward in the finish, but it is mainly the sweetness that dominates. The buttery oiliness is still there though.

A bit too simple for me (mainly just a sweet grain without too much spræl from the cask), but still a very good dram. This is classic old grain whisky! Sweetness and wood spices. Very Bourbon-like. Perfect for a dessert. I will give this 83/100 (21/21/21/20).
