Balblair 1999 (bottled 2015), 1st Release, 46%

Review #539
This is a mix of Bourbon and Sherry casks, and is made for the travel retail market. It is sweet and fruity in the smell with floral hints. Vanilla, honey, light citrus and crisp apples. But also some notes from the Sherry cask maturation like sweet raisins and wood spices.

The oak gets much more noticeable in the taste. Wood spices again and dry dried fruits. Some vanilla and sweet pears mixes in. The finish is long and dominated by the oak. Sweet oak! Maybe its some burned caramel that mixes in.

This is just very pleasant all the way. A fantastic mix of Bourbon and Sherry casks, and the 46% suits the flavours and the whisky in general. Take your time with one, as it changes over time. I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
