Black Bottle (Old Version), 40%

Review #537
The old version of this Black Bottle is known as a good quality blended Scotch with whisky from most of the Islay distilleries. Sweet light vanilla peat at first in the smell. Then some grassy notes and fresh apples and pears.

The peat is more dominant in the taste. Some citrus comes forward and mixes with some marzipan sweetness. Some grass again, some hay – all mixed with just a touch of oak. The peat turns light and sweet again in the finish.

What a great blend. Quality content and not as simple as other cheap blends. And the peated whiskies used is very noticeable and not just peat for the sake of peat. I will give this 83/100 (20/21/21/21).
