Arran 10 yo (2007/2017), PX Finish, 46%

Review #564
This is finished in PX Sherry casks and bottled for the Danish Christmas market. It is the first in their new Small Batch series, first release from Arran that is finished in PX and 1800 bottles were made. Sweet Christmas cake is the first thing that hits my nose. Lightly toasted oak, dates, raisins and hints of red berries like raspberries.

It is 46% and it is absolutely packed with flavours. Some white fruits and vanilla mixes with the dried fruits in the taste. All wrapped in fruity and sugary sweetness. It is a long finish where the sweetness dominates, but also some of the dried fruits – especially raisins – stays for quite a while.

I really enjoy these heavy flavours and extra sweetness these PX Sherry casks gives to the whisky. I really understand why Arran chose this as the Christmas malt for Denmark. And this is only a PX finish! Imagine this at cask strength with a full maturation in PX casks! Well, we can all dream… I will give this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
