Paul John Classic Select Cask (2016), 55,2%

Review #609
This is Batch 01 May 2016. This is unpeated and matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength. Green grass, white fruits and vanilla in the smell. Sweet pears and just a hint of oak and citrus.

A lot of alcohol overpowering in the taste at first. Then the white fruits comes forward with vanilla and honey sweetness. Some spices comes forward in the finish alongside a bit of oak.

The alcohol is way too dominant for my taste. When the alcohol wears a bit off, some white fruits comes forward and makes the whisky a bit more palateable. I don´t know if there is big batch variation, or if the quality have gone down from the initial batches, but I remember it much better… I will give this 80/100 (20/19/21/20).
