Lagavulin 9 yo (2008/2018), Malt dé Royal, 57%

Review #632
This is bottled by Gleann Mór Spirits as an Golden Drops (online whisky shop) Exclusive. It is a Single Cask, bottled from a Bourbon barrel, and only 120 bottles were made. Peat and hints of salt in the smell. Some ashes, sweet apples and vanilla.

The peat and alcohol comes forward at first in the taste. Dry, ashy peat with a salty touch. Some earth, hay and a whole lot of sweet vanilla as well. The finish is warm and long. A bit dry, with some of the oak coming through alongside the sweetness.

Single cask Lagavulin bottled at cask strength – what is not to like? It is not very complex, but it keeps you warm, and the Islay peat just pampers your palate! I will give this 85/100 (21/21/22/21).
