Bushmills Black Bush, 40%

Review #653
This has a lot of triple distilled single malt, which has aged for around 10 years in Oloroso Sherry casks before it´s blended with the grain whisky. The smell is Irish citrus light, but with hints of dried fruits and spices.

The dried fruits comes forward in the taste. Some black currant and barley as well. The finish is actually quite long considering the low ABV. The sweetness really comes forward – sugary-syrupy with a vanilla touch.

Considering the price, this is a very fine Irish dram. The Oloroso cask maturation is quite noticeable in the taste, even though it is just a blend. And this, combined with the grain whiskey, makes it a very fresh Sherry whiskey. I will give this 84/100 (20/22/21/21).
